Hello, 2010.

Wow, it’s 2010 already. I can still remember New Years 2009; this year has flown by.

Looking back, it’s been pretty awesome; I’ve met some amazing people, done some amazing things and have memories I intend to treasure for the rest of my life. A good year, I think.

Celebrating New Years was brilliant, this is one of the first years I’ve gone out and really celebrated, it was brilliant.

Anyway, it’s the start of a new year, which means I have some new targets for myself; things I’d like to accomplish this year. I’ll touch back on this at the end of the year, I hope :)

Firstly; once my exams are done I’d like to further my plans into creating my own company, providing Wordpress (primarially) services to the world. I’d also like to build a little community of my own; for the experience.

Secondly; I’d like to get into University. This will be decided by my upcoming exams this month and the set I have in June; I’d like to finish up studying Physics / Business Management / Both.

Thirdly; I’d like to make some friends. Sounds odd, but I’d like to get in contact with people who do similar stuff to me, like Donald Kelly, with a view to making some friends, and possibly some good contacts for the future :P

Those are my three proper intentions for this year, hopefully it’ll be as good as the last one was.

Christmas

Another Christmas has come and gone, and now I’m looking forward to 2010 (bar exams, of course). This year will be my last in education before I go off to University (for which I now have my first offers), which I am looking forward to.

Looking back over 2009 (I’m away mostly from tomorrow until after new years now), it’s been a really good year, I’ve made some amazing friends, worked with some great clients, and generally gotten a lot done, although I think I haven’t quite achieved what I could, I’d like to have worked more on some projects, and made something I could consider a success, which will be my target for next year.

My primary target now is to perform well in the two sets of exams I have this year, one set in January, and the next in June. They will determine where I end up going for University, and to a certain extent, what degree course I will be studying. I have an ingenious plan for my revision now, pictures will follow :P.

But non-academically, I’d like to further my promotion of my name as a freelancer, build one or two new projects to work on all year, and hopefully make a success of the combined work I intend to do with Donald Kelly.

I’m not going to set myself targets for blogging like I did last year, I’m going to blog if and when I think of things to write about, with no schedule or plan at all.

I’d also like to get my Twitter followers up above 1000, and increase the number of people who read this blog, which I hope to do by really getting my name out there in the next year. Time will tell :)

I think that’s my targets for next year, and I think whats left is to do is hope that everyone had an amazing Christmas, and wish everyone a very happy new year.

AS Level Results

On the 20th, I received my AS Level results for the exams I sat in July of this year.

In Physics, I got an A grade, Chemistry a B grade, Biology a C grade, and Maths a C grade.

I will be resitting a paper from Chemistry which dragged me down from an A and from Maths which brought me down from a B, although I am considering resitting all three Maths papers, as I feel I am capable of achieving more than I did.

These results are the basis of my choosing a degree at University to apply to once I’ve finished my A Levels, and I think I will be combining my passion for business with my love of physics to do a masters degree in Physics with Business, possibly at The University of Birmingham. I’m currently researching the degree and it’s potential applications, so I can ensure it’s the right thing for me, but right now everything seems promising.

My results aren’t entirely what I was hoping for, while Chemistry and Physics are good results I’m disappointed with my performance in my Maths and Biology exams. My intention is to put in more work and revision in the next year to ensure I leave with the grades I want – AAB or better.

BBC Blast

I went to a BBC Blast workshop yesterday afternoon, which was held at the seafront in Aberystwyth. And it was great. It’s really obvious the huge amount of planning that went into it, and while I only went to one workshop, Film Music (I’ll explain in a minute) it was great fun and everything looked really well run.

I actually originally wanted to go to the Dr Who prosthetics workshop, they were doing injury makeup and such, but I missed my chance with that, and went to a different one instead, which turned out to be great fun. We made music, using Mac software called Garageband, either just to our own, or to go with some premade videos that they provided.

I chose to do mine to the blast video, hopefully I’ll be able to link it from Youtube below. We had a great guy, I don’t remember his name, who taught us all about how to use it, very quickly, and then stuck around to help us out making some cool music.

Garageband is a really cool piece of software, and yesterday was the first time I’ve really had a chance to play with a Macbook Pro, and I think their great. Really great. I love the way the touchpad works, that’s one of the first things I noticed.

I’m *hoping* that my first EVER upload to Youtube will be a success, and that it will appear *magically* below :D

There’s a red box on Wordpress, so hopefully it’s worked :)

Anyhow, that’s the first I’ve heard about any of the workshops the BBC have been running throughout this year, and it’s got to be said, this one was really well run, everyone enjoyed the various different workshops, and everything was great.

And I even got a free t-shirt.
